Lenovo is a multinational computer technology company, most known for the ThinkPad, the company’s line of laptop computers and tablets. January 2015 marked a milestone for Lenovo: 100 million ThinkPads sold. The company wanted to create 2 “museum quality” pieces in celebration of such an achievement to be debuted during the annual Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The custom pieces were expected to showcase the ThinkPad as well as engage spectators in a social media challenge. One of which was an installation with over one hundred thousand track points. The objective was for the guests to estimate how many track points were in the display. With limited turnaround time, Lenovo was unable to create such an installation without shutting down its shop for months. With a little ingenuity, EVNT shaved down the estimated weeks of work by constructing a custom colored unit out of Styrofoam and red internal lighting to simulate the appearance of a hundred thousand track points.

Our expertise in different materials was crucial to the success of this event. Ultimately, the clients were thrilled with the result and have decided to reuse our designs at other Lenovo events throughout the year.
